LinkedIn Hashtag Basics
Three to five professional tags, and why more looks worse than none.
A different room
LinkedIn's feed is professional and comparatively formal. A block of twenty hashtags reads as automated there in a way it does not on Instagram, and readers notice. Three to five is the working convention.
Tags also route posts into topic feeds that people follow deliberately, so a tag on LinkedIn is closer to choosing a section of a publication than to joining a stream.
Choosing them
Pick one broad industry tag, one that names your specific subject, and one that names the format or audience — hiring, leadership, a named technology. Skip anything jokey unless your account voice genuinely supports it.
Placement
Put hashtags at the end of the post rather than sprinkled through the text. Inline tags interrupt reading, and on a platform where the post is mostly text, readability is the whole game.
